School Improvement Program – Buner
Committed to strengthening the educational infrastructure of Pakistan, CGN-P has recently embarked on a mission to rehabilitate education in the conflict stricken Malakand Division. CGN-P in collaboration with Plan International has launched the School Improvement Plan-Buner with an aim to improve the quality of education imparted in public sector primary schools of the district while assisting in the physical upgradation and Psycho-social counseling of children and families through schools.
The program, still in its initial stages, will be implemented in the following six Union Councils of district Buner.

The program over the course of one year will work with over 100 schools, building capacities of more than 550 teachers and benefiting more than 20000 children. CGN-P has opened an office in district Swabi to oversee the implementation of the program and coordinate with local authorities and CGN-P headquarters.
Through this program, CGN-P will endeavor to bring these schools at par with schools throughout the country by building capacities of teachers, propagating parental and community involvement in schools and sensitizing the local education department management to the need for an alternative system based on child centered practices. CGN-P will work through the Basic Education and Family Involvement component which will introduce Child Centered practices through implementing globally tried and tested Interactive Teaching and Learning methodologies from Kindergarten to Grade five.
School management committees will be activated which will make School development Plans and liaison with the community to raise awareness on education in the area. CGN-P will also train teachers of kindergarten classes in accordance with the National ECE Curriculum and will create awareness among students on health and nutritional issues.
